The symbolism of this little bird, the robin, served as the beginning point for the study of the visual narrative, which was portrayed with a series of watercolor drawings representing the many stages of the human life cycle. This series of drawings addresses the concept of transition, with the conclusion of one cycle ushering in another, and the idea that time is cyclic. The golden lines, like cage bars, depict the flow of life in which we sit, circulate, or are held. This visual narrative served as the inspiration for the Self-portrait series.
